Russell Crowe Is Hoping Pope Francis Will Watch ‘Noah’

Even though it hasn’t even been released yet, Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is already controversial among some Christians. But if star Russell Crowe has anything to do with it, the movie will have at least one high profile fan among faith leaders. The film’s star took to Twitter to invite Pope Francis to privately screen the “powerful, fascinating , resonant” Biblical epic. Though a Vatican spokesman recently told reporters that the pontiff doesn’t watch movies in a response to a question about whether he would see the film Philomena, as The Hollywood Reporter notes, in the past, the Pope has said he is a big fan of some classic Italian films. Crowe light-heartedly apologized for the influx of Tweets resulting from him encouraging others to ask the Pope to see the film, but added “Seriously though, #Noah the movie will fascinate you” and said “it would be my deepest pleasure to bring the @DarrenAronofsky film to you to screen” …
