Rumor: Two New Terrence Malick Films Could Be Coming Soon

Terrence Malick, the somewhat polarizing filmmaker who used to go years between projects, may have two major films on the way. The reclusive mastermind behind epics like Tree of Life and New World, has reportedly been working on a pair of new movies—one of which could debut at the Cannes Film Festival later this year. According to this story, Knight Of Cups, which stars Christian Bale and Natalie Portman, is an examination of “celebrity decadence,” and could see the light of day as soon as this summer. One of the movie’s actors, Joe Mangeniello seemed to hint in an interview with Philly.com that a Cannes debut was likely. The other film, which is yet-to-be-titled, and doesn’t have a release date, sounds even more interesting. Starring Ryan Gosling (as well as, possibly Rooney Mara, Val Kilmer and Michael Fassbender) “is set in the Austin music scene” and may or may not involve live band performances and a chainsaw-wielding Val Kilmer. Like anything with Malick, everyone (including his own actors) will likely be in the dark until the film’s release dates are locked in, but the good news is, it sounds like Malick is keeping plenty busy …
