NewSpring Church in Greenwood, South Carolina, has come with an, um, interesting giving campaign. The church’s pastor, Perry Noble, promised the congregation that they would refund givers who don’t receive a blessing after 90 days of tithing. Yes, you read that right. This church will return “every dime you gave during the 90 day period” if you either conclude “God’s a liar” or you don’t get a blessing. The church is calling it the 90-Day Tithing Challenge (complete with its own webpage). “Because we believe what the Bible says about tithing, we commit to you that if you tithe for three months and God doesn’t hold true to His promises of blessings (Malachi 3:10), we will refund 100 percent of your tithe. No questions asked,” the webpage details. It’s just like a three-month CD, only not at all.
