Our National Nightmare Is Over: Timothy Olyphant Will Return as Raylan Givens for ‘Justified: City Primeval’

Incredible news for people who love incredible TV. Timothy Olyphant will return to the ol’ Stetson for FX’s new Justified: City Primeval limited series. The show will mark the return of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens and the Elmore Leonard adaptation that ended up being one of the most thrilling and rewarding television series of its era.

The new limited series will also be adapted from a Leonard novel, City Primeval: High Noon In Detroit. It’ll be set eight years after Givens leaves the Kentucky holler for a relatively chill life in Miami, where he’s raising a teenager. But a chance encounter sends him to Detroit where he crossed paths with a slippery sociopath — just the kind that Justified fans are used to seeing Givens outsmart and, ultimately, deliver to, well, justice.

“Justified was one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the past decade and an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s work that was so colorfully brought to life by Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens, Graham Yost and the entire team of producers, writers, directors and cast,” said Eric Schrier, President of FX Entertainment. “To have this group come together again with Tim as Raylan in a new and different Elmore Leonard story is thrilling. I want to thank our showrunners Dave and Michael and their fellow executive producers Tim, Graham, Sarah and Carl, the Elmore Leonard estate as well as our partners at Sony Pictures Television, for making this possible.”
