In an effort to stem the tide of police brutality, today, the New York Police Department said it will require every police officer to provide details on every time force is used. Officers believed to have used excessive force will face formal discipline (and potential dismissal). The change in policy was brought on by the violent detainment of tennis star James Blake, and Eric Garner’s death last summer.
