New Travel Channel Show Is an Entire 12-Hour Road Trip in Real-Time

What’s more thrilling than being a passenger in a car for 12 consecutive hours on a seemingly never-ending road trip? How about watching the same 12-hour trip on TV. Inspired by Norway’s slow TV phenomenon (in which millions of viewers tune in to hours of knitting, train rides and other real-time non-events), the Travel Channel will air a special called Slow Road Live on Nov. 27, Black Friday. Starting at 9 a.m., cable watchers can tune in to see someone drive around in a car to experience, “a serene and captivating journey on the frenetic day Americans have come to know as Black Friday.” The network explained to Deadline, “While everyone else is out hustling and bustling to get the latest deals on Black Friday, we’re giving our viewers a chance to unwind with 12 hours of reality in real time.” Get your popcorn ready …
