The NBA Banned Teams From Trolling Each Other, and It’s Already Backfired

The NBA had such good intentions. They recently implemented new rules to prevent the official team accounts of league franchises from making fun of each other on Twitter.

Having sports teams keep the competition on the court and treat each other civilly online seemed like a great idea. Sadly, it’s basically become a microcosm for social media interactions in general, and has already backfired. Teams have already found a way to get around the rules—with passive-aggressive sarcasm.

Here’s a recent exchange between the Sacramento Kings and the Atlanta Hawks:

Evidently, not even professional sports teams can stop their feeds from becoming passive-aggressive insult matches.
