Earlier this week, Passion Music dropped a belated Easter present online. Longtime Passion worship leader David Crowder virtually teamed up with pop stars Johnnyswim and Tori Kelly for a take on Bill and Gloria Gaither’s classic “Because He Lives.” (Johnnyswim was joined by special guest Paloma, the couple’s third child who was born last November).
As with everything else about this season, the whole thing has a whiff of the unfamiliar — Kelly, Crowder and the Sudano-Ramirez crew are just sitting around their homes, doing their best, just like the rest of us — but the song still hums with beauty and power.
