Match.com is rolling out a new marketing campaign with the help of Maximum Effort — the media company owned by Ryan Reynolds. And this new imagining, this year hasn’t been a total disaster. At least the devil was able to meet Mrs. Right.
Fans of Reynolds’ brand of humor will find a lot to laugh at here but there’s a little easter egg for the Swifties too. Most of Taylor Swift’s catalog is currently tangled up in a messy legal battle, so she’s currently hard at work re-recording new versions of lots of her old albums that she’ll own the rights to free and clear. She’s not done yet but “Love Story,” which soundtracks this ad, is our first tease of what they’ll sound like which is …pretty much the same as they’ve always sounded, but with less red tape around them, apparently.

All in all, a pretty good ad from a guy who knows his way around a funny bit. It taps into the national mood, gets the point of its product across and promises better days to come.
Next up for Reynolds is Free Guy, which will probably release some day, at some point, who knows?
