Former Casting Crowns Drummer Andy Williams Has Passed Away Following a Motorcycle Accident

Andy Williams, the former drummer for Contemporary Christian Music mainstays Casting Crowns, has succumbed to injuries from a motorcycle accident. He was 49 years old.

“Family and friends of Andy, early this morning, around 1:00 am, Andy Williams went to be with Jesus. He fought a great fight, but the injuries that he suffered took a toll on his physical body,” Williams’ church Grace Chapel Fairview shared on Facebook.

“You prayed along with us that Andy would be healed. You prayed along with us that Andy would wake up. You prayed along with us that God would perform a miracle. While we mourn that Andy isn’t here with us, and that we didn’t get to witness the miracle we longed for here on earth, all of our prayers were answered,” the post continued. “He is healed, he is awake and we believe that he is more alive today than he has ever been.”

Williams drummed for Casting Crowns from 2001 to 2009, assisting the band for monster CCM hits like “Voice of Truth,” “Praise You In This Storm” and “Who Am I?”. Their self-titled debut went platinum and their follow-up Lifesong netted a Grammy.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Williams’ wife and children with medical bills. It has raised about $77,000 of its $250,000 goal. You can donate to it here.
