It seems like Hollywood is determined to address what would happen if a big rock crashed into Earth, specifically a large comet in the case of Netflix’s Don’t Look Up.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence are two low-level astronomers who go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy the planet. Along the way, they meet with Ariana Grande, Tyler Perry, Cate Blanchett, Kid Cudi, Timothėe Chalamet, Jonah Hill and (President of the United States!) Meryl Streep — essentially, any A-list star you can think of. Looks like a fairly thinly veiled climate catastrophe situation but when the cast is this good, we can accept some heavy handed metaphors.
The film is directed by Adam McKay, who was behind countless movies such as Vice, The Other Guys and The Big Short, so you know we’re in for a good time with Don’t Look Up. Look out for the film to hit Netflix on December 24.
