Lecrae Provides the Music in the Magnetic First Trailer for Regina King’s ‘One Night in Miami…’

We’re already pretty excited for Regina King’s directorial debut One Night in Miami…, a film adaptation of Kemp Powers’ stage play about the night Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke, Malcolm X and Jim Brown met to celebrate Ali’s win over Sonny Liston in 1964. The film earned rave reviews at festivals and there is talk about a Best Director Oscar nod for King, who is also getting award chatter for her lead performance in HBO’s Watchmen to add to her Best Supporting Actress win for If Beale Street Could Talk. Now we’ve got a first trailer for the Amazon Prime original and who else should provide the soundtrack but our friend Lecrae, whose “Welcome to America” from Anomaly lends this trailer its pulsating power.

Hamilton‘s Leslie Odom Jr. plays Cooke, The OA‘s Kingsley Ben-Adir is Malcolm, The 100‘s Eli Goree is Ali (who was still Cassius Clay at the time of this meeting) and Hidden Figure‘s Aldis Hodge is Brown. The movie will be available on January 15 for Amazon Prime members. You can check out Lecrae’s full song below.
