Jake Gyllenhaal stars in Netflix’s upcoming The Guilty, a movie that takes place over the course of one very stressful morning in a California 911 dispatch call center. Gyllenhaal plays a call operator whose caller can’t say who she’s with or what’s going on, but it’s clear that she’s in trouble and this 911 call is her only hope. That’s the premise of Netflix’s promising-looking The Guilty.
The movie looks like a nail biter and has the added allure of being directed by Antoine Fuqua, the man behind tense thrillers like The Equalizer and Training Day. It’s also written by Nic Pizzolatto, who wrote True Detective and worked with Fuqua on the latest Magnificent Seven revival. The movie also stars Ethan Hawke, Riley Keough, Paul Dano and Peter Sarsgaard, so there’s clearly a lot more going on here than is revealed in the trailer but, hey, that’s what a good trailer does. We’ll see the whole thing when it drops on Netflix on October 1.
