Rest easy, world. The Dude abides.
Just a little under a year after announcing that he’d been diagnosed with cancer, Jeff Bridges is back with some wonderful news, direct from the horse’s mouth: “My cancer is in remission – the ‘9+12’ mass has shrunk down to the size of a marble.”
Whew. That’d be enough good news to get us all through the week right there. But Bridges’ update contains all sorts of positivity and at a time when there’s a dire lack of it in the world, any uplifting updates are worth passing along. Bridges also revealed that he survived a bought of COVID (“I heard that the vaccine can help folks with Long Haulers,” he wrote. “Maybe that’s the cause of my quick improvement”). He also revealed that he’s been on oxygen lately, but was able to ditch it to walk his daughter down the aisle and dance with her at her wedding. He included a very sweet video of the dance embedded on his website.
All told, Bridges is cancer free, double vaccinated and appears to be very happy about his new son-in-law. Not bad for an American icon, and that is not just, like, our opinion, man. Congratulations to the whole Bridges family on the great news and best wishes in the continuing recovery.
