A few years back, George Clooney went on record as saying that he’d personally honor anyone who asked for reimbursement for Batman & Robin. Setting aside the fact that George Clooney could probably afford a new house for everyone who saw Batman & Robin, that’s a nice way of apologizing for wasting everyone’s time. Yesterday, Michael Bay looked like he might follow in Clooney’s footsteps by apologizing for Armageddon. That would have been a good start for him, anyway, and when he told The Miami Herald “I will apologize for Armageddon, because we had to do the whole movie in 16 weeks. It was a massive undertaking. That was not fair to the movie. I would redo the entire third act if I could,” we had every reason to believe he was sincere. Unfortunately, he took to his website today to say he never apologized for Armageddom, nor does he intend to. “I’m not in the slightest going to apologize for the third movie in my movie career, a film called Armageddon,” he boldly declared. He went on to say that “Still today, Armageddon, is still one of the most shown movies on cable TV.” Well, praise doesn’t get much higher than that …
