Meet Duck Dynasty’s New Star: Pastor Alan Robertson

You may notice a new face on A&E’s hit reality show Duck Dynasty this season.

47-year-old preacher Alan Robertson, the only Robertson brother not yet featured on the show, has announced he is leaving his job in the ministry to join his family on the show.

The notably beardless Robertson is the eldest brother in the famous family that sells hunting products and stars in one of TV’s highest-rated reality shows.

Prior to joining the show this season and becoming the family’s public relations manager, Robertson served as the full-time pastor of White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ in Louisiana, the church the rest of the family attends. But don’t expect Robertson to tone down his preaching just because he’s no longer behind the pulpit for the first time in 22 years.

Since the show debuted in 2012, family prayers, discussions about faith and good old-fashioned Bible Belt family values have been a staple of Duck Dynasty. In an interview with the New York Post, Robertson said even though he will no longer be in the full-time ministry, he still sees himself as an evangelist.

“What I do for our church—you see, it’s a pretty good-sized church—impacts a lot of people, but because of my association with the show, I’ll get to minister to a lot more people. Any person who’s an evangelist, that’s what you want to do, so I had to give this up for something possibly bigger.”
