Slate has published this excerpt from the book Unscrolled: 54 Artists and Writers Wrestle With the Torah, in which Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof reimagines the story of Abraham and Isaac as a modern police investigation. The brief dialogue—between Abraham and a police investigator (which does contain a profanity)—contains a twist ending that challenges the conventional ending to the story.
