Now that virtually every single person in the world has weighed in on Kanye’s Grammy dust-up, it’s time to hear Kanye weigh in. Ryan Seacrest interviewed a notably subdued West this morning, in which Kanye gave a little context for his thoughts about Beck. Via Pitchfork:
“Beck is one of the nicest guys and one of the most respected musicians in the game,” he said. “There’s nothing that I will want to do as a fellow musician to disrespect him in any way.” He said he misworded his comments and added: “Obviously Beck is one of the most respected artists, and respects artistry …But Taylor Swift came up to me right afterwards, literally right afterwards, and tells me that I should have went on stage. This is the irony of my life.””
Speaking of Taylor, the two seem to have buried the hatchet over their now legendary kerfuffle at the MTV Video Music Awards and, in fact, Kanye says they’re planning to collaborate. “She wants to get in the studio and we’re definitely going to go in,” he told Seacrest. “Any artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fan base, I’m down to get in the studio and work” …
