Justin Timberlake Surprises Selfie Kid, Once Again

America’s new favorite meme, “Selfie Kid” Ryan McKenna—the boy who got a photo with Justin Timberlake during his halftime performance at the Super Bowl—stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show a few days ago to chat about his newfound fame.

As a die-hard New England Patriots fan, 13-year-old Ryan told DeGeneres that he was just happy to be at the game, saying that going to the Super Bowl is a “dream come true.” Fans were given absolutely no warning that Justin Timberlake would run into the stands during his finale of the half-time performance.

“The lady told us that we were in a good section, but we had no idea Justin was going to be there,” he said.

After talking memes, McKenna had a good laugh over how he went viral. “I had a video… my dad told me he was coming up so I had to push my way up there. So I had the video of when I was going to Justin, and I have the iPhone 6, so that thing’s slow. But I had to get the camera back up to get the photo with Justin.”

As if being on her talk show wasn’t enough, DeGeneres had more surprises in store. She had arranged a phone call with Justin, where he invited McKenna and his family to come to a show in Boston, where they would officially be able to meet for their second selfie.

“Ryan, I look forward to meeting you and our second selfie together,” Timberlake said.
