Longtime 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon was killed in a car accident last night, when his taxi hit another vehicle in Manhattan. The two drivers involved survived the accident. Simon had worked with CBS as a journalist for more than four decades, and has covered some of the world’s most important events, broadcast from war zones around the globe and was recognized with numerous awards for excellence. In a statement, 60 Minutes Executive Producer Jeff Fager said, “Bob was a reporter’s reporter. He was driven by a natural curiosity that took him all over the world covering every kind of story imaginable. There is no one else like Bob Simon. All of us at CBS News and particularly at 60 Minutes will miss him very much.” Simon was 73 years old …
