Jack White to Create the ‘World’s Fastest Released Record’ in a Single Day

Jack White is going for another world record. On April 19, which happens to be Record Store Day, White will attempt to create the “World’s Fastest Released Record.” At his Third Man Records store in Nashville, White plans on performing and recording a live version of the title track from his upcoming album Lazaretto, which will be pressed into vinyl LPs within hours. Even sleeves will be created that day using photos from the live show. In a press release, White’s people promised to keep the presses running until everyone who wants to purchase a copy gets one. All you have to do is show up:

For those who can’t score tickets, The World’s Fastest Record will be made available for sale from the front of Third Man Records as soon as copies are pressed. Anybody who shows up that day during business hours wanting to purchase a copy will get one. Third Man promises to deliver until all customers are satisfied (one per customer, obviously!)

Sure, it’s a little gimmicky—but it also sounds pretty cool. As 145 people being pulled on water skis articlebehind a single boat could attest, there’s nothing more fun than breaking a world record …
