In Honor of ‘El Camino’, Let’s Look Back on Aaron Paul Going Nuts on ‘The Price Is Right’

El Camino drops on Netflix today, and will reveal what happened to Jesse Pinkman, the guy who had the worst life ever, after the events of Breaking Bad.

The time for talking about that show will come but first, in honor, let us look back on Aaron Paul’s first ascent to stardom: that time he went absolutely bugnuts on The Price Is Right.

Even here, we see what you could call a bit of a demo reel for Paul’s future in lights. It’s all there. The unchained, unbridled, almost, some might say. terrifying enthusiasm. The boundless capacity for joy. The depths of heartbreaking despair.

If one looks, one can almost see the entirety of Jesse Pinkman’s journey played out in this brief clip, with Bob Barker acting as sort of a Walter White-type, manipulating Paul into a vulnerable space only to dash his dreams against the rocks as soon as it suited him. (We’re sort of losing the metaphor here, but you get it).

Anyway, El Camino is on Netflix now. Does Jesse fair better here than Aaron Paul did on The Price Is Right? Only one way to find out.
