HBO has announced a major shift for 2019: It will officially remove adult-themed, sexually explicit content from its cable channel and on-demand app. For years, the channel has hosted pornographic “Late-Night” films and documentary series like Real Sex. However, they will soon be removed for good.
A network rep told The Los Angeles Times, “Over the past several years HBO has been winding down its late-night adult fare. While we’re greatly ramping up our other original program offerings, there hasn’t been a strong demand for this kind of adult programming, perhaps because it’s easily available elsewhere.”
Of course, if you’ve watch any of their original programs like say, Game of Thrones, you’ll know that there is no shortage of nudity and graphic content. However, the shift marks a major move away from content that is specifically geared toward viewers looking for pornographic content.
