Greta Gerwig’s Upcoming ‘Little Women’ Adaptation Has an Unbelievable Cast

Greta Gerwig is following up last year’s Lady Bird with an anticipated adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women, but she’s not the only big name coming aboard. Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamat, who each worked with Gerwig on Lady Bird, are in talks to join the movie, along with Meryl Streep and Emma Stone.

If it was possible to have a whole paragraph made entirely of exclamation points, this is where it would go. This is Big Little Lies, Mystic River, The Departed-level casting.

Little Women has already seen one star-studded adaptation. In 1994, a movie was released with Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon and Kirsten Dunst. The story follows teenage sisters Amy, Jo, Beth and Meg as they and their mother navigate life without their absent father in Civil War-era Massachusetts. (h/t Variety)

No word on when the new Little Women will begin production, but we’ll keep a close eye on this one.
