The ‘Friday Night Lights’ Movie Is Not Happening and It Never Will

If there’s a crazier roller coaster in Hollywood right now, we have yet to hear about it. The attempts to adapt a movie, based on the TV show, based on the movie, based on the book of Friday Night Lights has been on and off more times than Matt and Julie’s relationship. Unlike Matt and Julie, however, this particular roller coaster does not [SPOILER ALERT] have a happy ending. Taylor Kitsch told Vulture “No, period” when they asked him about a movie, and show creator Peter Berg told Collider “There’s not gonna be a movie. We talked about it, some people thought it was a good idea, some didn’t; I’ve come to believe it’s probably not a good idea and I seriously doubt it’s gonna happen.” Of course, if Friday Night Lights taught us nothing else, it’s that you’ve got to hold on to hope no matter how bad the odds are, how adamantly the cast doesn’t seem to want to do it, or how pointless a movie seems after the show itself ended so nicely …
