Domino’s is quickly becoming the Apple of pizza innovations—giving us high-tech improvements that we didn’t even know we wanted. First, the delivery cars with built-in pizza heaters (genius) and now delivery robots. The Domino Robotic Unit, or DRU, is essentially an autonomous unit that can follow maps, navigate sidewalks and deliver fresh, hot pizza with cold beverages to wash it down. If this is what a robot takeover looks like, we’re totally fine with it. In a press release, Domino’s Group CEO and Managing Director Don Meij said that the DRU is “cheeky and endearing and we are confident that one day he will become an integral part of the Domino’s family.” So, basically it’s C3PO but with less whining and more dining. Meij added, “He’s a road to the future, and one that we are very excited about exploring further.” We are also excited about exploring that future, Meij. The future tastes good.
