Disney’s First Marvel Comics-themed Animated Movie Comes Out Later this Year

Disney has released these images from their upcoming children’s adventure film Big Hero 6—the studio’s first animated movie that takes place in the Marvel universe. If the picture and title aren’t familiar, that’s because they’re based on a relatively obscure character. During the manga craze 20 years ago, Marvel unveiled the stylized heroes in a series of largely-forgotten comics. The upcoming Disney movie tells the story of a young inventor named Hiro Hamada, who creates his own robot named Baymax (pictured below). Besides some hardcore Marvel fans and nostalgic readers of ‘90s comics, there probably aren’t a lot of viewers eagerly waiting on the Nov. 7 release, though the film will at least give young viewers their own kid-friendly version of superteam epics like The Avengers
