‘Creed’ Director Ryan Coogler Will Direct TV Show about Kids in Juvenile Detention

Creed director Ryan Coogler is teaming up with Short Term 12 director Destin Daniel Cretton for a show about the staff of a group home for troubled teens. The show, titled Minors, is being marketed as a cross between Orange is the New Black and the fourth season of The Wire, which is either going to be incredibly refreshing or incredibly depressing. Both contributors have experience working with troubled teens. Coogler worked for years as a counselor for kids in San Francisco’s Juvenile Hall, and Cretton was a line staff worker at a group facility for teenagers for two years. The pair have said they plan to tell a story that tracks the effects the system has on the kids that go through it.
