The Books Readers Abandon Most

Book review site GoodReads has revealed the list of books that readers most frequently “abandon”—essentially, the books readers start, but never end up finishing. Topping the list, is the trashy bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey, which carried this frequent piece of criticism: “I am embarrassed for all of us.” Readers also bailed early on J.K. Rowling’s recent Casual Vacancy, saying it’s too different from her Harry Potter novels, and the book version of Wicked, which was too different from the musical. Readers also have fickle tastes when it comes to the modern classics. The top five most ditched critically acclaimed books include Catch 22, The Lord of the Rings, Ulysses, Moby Dick and Atlas Shrugged
