Bill Cosby Has Stepped Down from the Board of Trustees at Temple University

After 32 years of holding the position, Bill Cosby has resigned from the Board of Trustees at Temple University. The move comes after several colleges have distanced themselves from the comedian following public allegations from numerous women that the comedian drugged and raped them in the past. Cosby’s attorney has repeatedly denied the allegations, most recently sending a statement to CNN saying that it doesn’t make sense “so many people would have said nothing, done nothing, and made no reports to law enforcement or asserted civil claims if they thought they had been assaulted over a span of so many years.”

In his own statement, Cosby said he was “proud” to be associated with Temple, but “wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of Trustees.” One of the at least 17 women who say Cosby sexually assaulted her once worked at Temple. Andrea Constand told police in 2005 that Cosby gave her some sort of medication that made her dizzy. She awakened later with her clothes disheveled and her bra unhooked. No charges were filed against Cosby, but, according to CNN, he “settled a civil suit with Constand that alleged 13 Jane Does had similar stories” …
