Best Buy and Judd Apatow Need to Think Through Their Tweets.

Today in Poorly Thought Out Tweets, both comedy superstar Judd Apatow and noted seller of computers Best Buy took to social media with some thoughts that did not necessarily need to be tweeted.

The first came from Apatow, who wrote “Releasing private Sony e mails to hurt people is the same as releasing nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence. Why are they ok to print?” The tweet was immediately met by a slew of people pointing out that perhaps there is a minor difference between having your work emails released and having pictures of your own, personal naked body delivered to the hordes of the Internet.

The other came from Best Buy which, as you may know, is a major player in Sarah Koenig’s crazy popular Serial podcast. They tweeted “We have everything you need. Unless you need a payphone. #Serial.” If you listen to Serial, you get the joke, and you’ll probably also wonder why Best Buy chose to joke about the murder scene of a teenage girl. Best Buy has since apologized. Apatow has not. Both are learning an important lesson right now …
