A new study has found that 1 in 12 marriages in the United States are interracial, the highest rate ever. The study suggest the higher rate is due to the influx of Asian and Hispanic immigrants into the U.S. over the past several decades …
A Pew Research Center study, released Thursday, details a diversifying America where interracialunions and the mixed-race children they produce are challenging typicalnotions of race.
"The rise in interracial marriage indicates that race relations haveimproved over the past quarter century," said Daniel Lichter, asociology professor at Cornell University. "Mixed-race children haveblurred America’s color line. They often interact with others on eitherside of the racial divide and frequently serve as brokers betweenfriends and family members of different racial backgrounds," he said."But America still has a long way to go."
