16-Year-Old Rickrolls, Subsequently Breaks, Vine

Yesterday, Vine released its new, highly anticipated Android app, but thanks to a mischievous teenager with a taste for Rick Astley tunes, the big unveiling didn’t go as planned. High schooler Will Smidlein says he was just trying to hack the app to see if he could bypass Vine’s 6-second video length limitation, and decided to use Astley’s music video for the classic “Never Gonna Give You Up” as a test. But as soon as it went live, other users started sharing the link, eventually crashing the app. After an engineer from Twitter reached out asking him to take the video down, Smidlein complied and tweeted, “I truly feel awful for the engineers whose day I ruined with my stupid messing around.” Watch an incredible, jaw-dropping video of a Vine engineer’s reaction …
