British track star Mo Farah became an international celebrity after winning two gold medals at the 2012 Olympics. His infectious personality and enthusiasm even went on to inspire an Internet meme. One of the few people not familiar with the Olympic star though, was a TV anchor in New Orleans. After Farah won the city’s recent Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon in a record-setting time, the Olympic champion participated in this awkward local news interview (video below) with the anchor who evidently had no idea who he was. The anchor’s questions included, "Now haven't you run before? This isn’t your first?”

Shockingly, Farah fans took to Twitter—a medium typically known for its measured, thoughtful dialogue—and blasted local TV anchor LaTonya Norton. Farah though, kept it classy, tweeting “Just wanna say to everyone being nasty to LaTonya Norton please stop!! She made a mistake like we all do!! She didn't mean anything by it!” … Discuss

South African Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius has been charged for the murder of his girlfriend. Police say they received a call in the middle of the night about a shooting at the home of the 26-year-old. When they entered the home, they found paramedics unsuccessfully attempting to revive Pistorius' 29-year-old girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp. Though there are reports that Pistorius may have mistaken her for an intruder, police say there have been previous domestic incidents at the home and reports of shouting prior to the shooting. Pistorius, who has two carbon fiber prosthetic blades from the knee-down, rose to international fame when he became the first double-leg amputee to participate at the Olympic level. The “Blade Runner” also took home three medals in the 2012 Paralympics … Discuss

Fox has just bought a pitch for Bleached, a script that is about a chubby four-year-old who falls overboard during a family vacation, is raised by whales and becomes an Olympic swimmer. Just goes to show that there are still lots of fresh, brilliant sounding ideas out there for new movies and that Hollywood is still a place to take chances on innovative plots with compelling characters. This movie sounds like it has everything: chubby four-year-olds, whales and the Olympics. Can't wait for the inevitable scene where the whale-raised Olympian's cruel rival gets finally gets what he deserved by being pushed into the pool. Is it too early to book tickets for the midnight showing? ... Discuss

Chances are, you made a mistake over the weekend. It's natural. But take comfort in the fact that you, at least, didn't mess up while covering the Olympic gold medal basketball game by identifying Jesse Eisenberg—the actor who played Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network—for Mark Zuckerberg himself. Well, unless your name is Bob Fitzgerald and you were covering the Olympic gold medal basketball game for NBC. Because, in that case, that is exactly the mistake you made ... Discuss

17-year-old Austin Wierschke of Rhinelander, Wisconsin took home the top prize in Times Square yesterday for being the country's fastest texter. Gold medals, landing on Mars and now this; America is just on fire lately. This is actually Austin's second consecutive victory, which makes him sort of the Ryan Lochte of texting. Actually, a little better than Ryan Lochte, because Austin has the right idea. The winner of the LG Texting Championship takes home a $50,000 reward, fully double the top prize for a gold medal Olympian. If Olympians just took all the time they spent forging their bodies into machines and would work on texting, they'd be in a lot better financial shape than they are. Time to rethink your lives, gold medal athletes ... Discuss
