Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a police sitcom starring SNL alum Andy Sandberg and produced by writers from Parks and Recreation, is among five new shows set to air on Fox next season. And, from the description, it sounds like a totally original concept that avoids most known cop-show/buddy-movie stereotypes: It takes place in New York City. Sandberg and his partners play by their own rules and don’t take anything seriously. A new “by-the-book” boss shows up and has little patience for precinct shenanigans … and hilarity ensues! Also among the new sitcom pilots, is a live-action show from Seth MacFarlane called Dads, which will star Giovanni Ribisi and Seth Green as two childhood friends who live with their fathers … Discuss

While NBC has confirmed the worst-kept secret in show-biz—that Jimmy Fallon is officially replacing Jay Leno as the host of the Tonight Show—over on CBS, some Hollywood insiders say that David Letterman could be on his way out. The long-time Late Show host’s contract expires in 2014, and some TV industry-watchers believe it would be the perfect time for the network to secure their own new late night personality: Daily Show host Jon Stewart. They also point to the fact that CBS is owned by Viacom, who just happens to also own Comedy Central, the network that airs Stewart’s nightly comedy show … Discuss

The Robertson family, the bearded hunting entrepreneurs at the center of the show, are reportedly asking for $200,000 per episode for future seasons. It’s not the first dispute the family has had with the network. In this YouTube video, Phil Robertson talked about how he had to convince producers not to edit out the phrase “In Jesus name” from the prayer that he closes each show with … Discuss

According to a new report, music service Spotify will take on Netflix and HBO when it rolls out a new streaming video service. And, like the model Netflix is pioneering in an effort to compete with premium networks like HBO, Spotify will reportedly invest in its own original content.

Recently Netflix, who had previously only licensed TV shows and movies from other studios, debuted its first original series, House of Cards, made exclusively available to Netflix subscribers. In the coming months, Netflix will also debut their reboot of the series Arrested Development. Even though original programming is infamously expensive to create (Netflix reportedly invests $5 million per episode for House of Cards), Spotify has deep pockets—the company was recently valued at $3 billion … Discuss
