‘SNL’ Is Adding a New Black Female Cast Member

After coming under criticism for not featuring a black female cast member on the show since 2007, Saturday Night Live has been holding auditions and is planning on adding a new performer has soon as January. Back in October, the show and creator Lorne Michaels came under fire after long-time cast member Kenan Thompson told TV Guide that “they just never find ones that are ready,” when asked about the show’s lack of diversity. For the last several weeks, the show has been hosting auditions and plans to debut its latest performer starting next month, according to several reports. Michaels told The New York Times, “All told we’ve seen about 25 people.
