Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin have developed a new technology that can cancel out waves of light via a thin cloaking device, rendering objects invisible. Though it could be a while before it works outside of a lab, it’s a breakthrough innovation in the experimental field of invisibility devices. We consider ourselves pretty patient people, but come on scientists. Once you eventually figure this whole invisibility thing out, maybe you can finally move on to some other cool machines we’ve been waiting for. Flying cars, time machines and x-ray vision goggles aren’t inventing themselves … Discuss

An English inventor’s 25-year-old car may not look like much, but Peter Dearman’s wheels may be the future of automotive technology. That’s because his car is fueled only by air. His homemade prototype uses liquid air stored in a modified beer keg to power the car’s engine—resulting in a truly zero emissions output. And even though the car can currently only go 30 mph (and looks like the Mirth Mobile from Wayne’s World), it’s caught the eye of serious auto-industry players. The European company behind the McLaren racecar is currently looking at ways to enhance Dearman’s design and make it more powerful … Discuss
