Why Did Shia LaBeouf Plagiarize His Apology to Alec Baldwin?

Shia LaBeouf and Alec Baldwin were both slated to appear in a Broadway revival of Orphans, but LaBeouf dropped out due to “creative differences,” which is pretty funny by itself. But it’s not nearly as funny as the apology that LaBeouf emailed to Baldwin and then, for good measure, TwitPic’d for all his followers. Of course he tweeted a picture of his apology to Alec Baldwin. Would you ask the sun to stop shining? But it was then pointed out by New York Times contributor David Itzkoff that the whole apology was plagiarized from an old Esquire article titled “What Is a Man.” Now, it could be argued that Labeouf deserves credit for at least apologizing to Baldwin, but plagiarizing an apology from an Esquire magazine article (and then tweeting a picture of it, remember) makes you wonder what on earth was going on. What a perfect story. What a perfect apology. What is a man? A man copies his apologies from Esquire
