Unrequited Lover Jailed For Calling, Texting Ex-Girlfriend 21,000 Times

There’s no easy way to get over a broken heart, especially when your broken heart is convinced that the fires of love still smolder in the object of your unrequited affections’ fickle heart. You might try to win her back, despite her repeated assertions that it is time to move on. You might be certain that you’re still a great guy, and if she could just see what a great guy you are, she’ll surely come around. And you might think the only way to show her what a good guy you are is by calling her and texting her, over and over—in the case of one 33-year-old French man—21,807 times.

Alas, this grand gesture was doomed, as are most efforts to blatantly ignore and disrespect an ex’s wishes and change her mind. Unlike many grand gestures however, this one comes with a jail sentence. He’s being fined $1,300 and will serve four months behind bars, all for the crime of love, which is this particular instance is also the crime of stalking, which is definitely a crime.
