UK Prime Minister David Cameron Announces Plan to Fight Online Porn

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has outlined a new initiative that he hopes will limit access to pornographic material that is “corroding childhood.” As part of his new proposal, online porn would be filtered in the country, unless users specifically tell their Internet providers that they would like access to it. The plan also calls for a joint American and British taskforce to fight online obscenity, a requirement for search engines like Google to create a blacklist of illegal search terms and for “family friendly Wi-Fi” in public areas that provide customers with Internet access (like cafes and railway stations) to prevent children from viewing pornography. In a speech, Cameron said, “In the darkest corners of the internet, there are things going on that are a direct danger to our children, and that must be stamped out. I feel profoundly as a politician, and as a father, that the time for action has come” …
