Twitter Is Removing the Character Limit on Direct Messages

Anyone who is ever attempted to send a meaningful message or conduct a productive back and forth conversation via Twitter Direct Messaging knows that the 140-character limit can start to get annoying. The people at Twitter have evidently realized that having to break up what’s essentially a private email into a series of 10 Tweets doesn’t really make any sense, and now, they are doing something about it. Starting in July, the 140-character limit on DMs will be removed, to allow for longer private correspondence between users. In a post to developers, the Twitter team didn’t give a lot of details as to how the new functionality will work (like how long DMs can now be), but they did assure the community that this doesn’t mean changes are coming to the main feed: “Tweets will continue to be the 140 characters they are today” …
