Study: Those Who Avoided Sunshine Were Twice as Likely to Die

Reading the results of this study will most likely make you close up your laptop and actually go outside to enjoy the late-Spring weather. Researchers in Sweden have released the results of a two-decades-long study examining the effects of exposure to sunlight for nearly 30,000 women. They found that those who avoided sunshine were twice as likely to die from any causes than women who were regularly in the sun. Though the reasons are not totally clear—some have suggested it could be because of other lifestyle choices associated with being outside—researchers believe that Vitamin D (which our skin absorbs through sunlight) could be the source of the long-term health benefits.
