Well this was unexpected. Sony has announced that starting today, you can rent or buy the comedy The Interview via YouTube, Xbox video, Google Play and a special site called SeeTheInterview.com. The film company initially delayed the release of the movie—the plot of which centers around the assassination of North Korea dictator Kim Jong Un—after hackers (possibly from North Korea) targeted the studio in a cyber attack and threatened acts of violence against theaters that showed it. In a statement, the Chairman and CEO of Sony Entertainment said, “This release represents our commitment to our filmmakers and free speech. While we couldn’t have predicted the road this movie traveled to get to this moment, I’m proud our fight was not for nothing and that cyber criminals were not able to silence us” …
