Last month, King of Queens star Leah Remini left the Church of Scientology making several very public and very dark accusations. Chief among these was her insinuation that Shelly Miscavige, the wife of church leader David, may be in serious trouble. Mrs. Miscavige has not been seen in public since about 2005, and the Church is keeping quiet as to her whereabouts. Remini says that when she casually asked about Shelly’s whereabouts at Tom Cruise’s wedding (of course), she was told that “You don’t [expletive] rank to ask about Shelly.”
Things got weirder this week, when Remini got concerned enough to file a missing persons report with the LAPD, only to be told hours later that her report was “unfounded” and that the case was closed. A rep from the Church of Scientology told E! that the whole thing “is a publicity stunt cooked up by a small band of unemployed fanatics who live on the fringe of the Internet. The Church and the attorney for Mrs. Miscavige have already responded to this ludicrous claim.” That’s technically true—attorneys who said they were speaking on Shelly’s behalf assured the public yesterday that she is, despite all evidence to the contrary, not missing …
