Pope: Priests Shouldn’t Drive Fancy Cars

Pope Francis recently met with a group of priests and nuns in training, and he didn’t mince words when expressing his feeling that people in ministry should reject materialism. He told the young ministers, “It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can’t do this. A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. This should be a message to all church leaders. In my humble rusted out 10+ year old car bought from a youth organization driving opinion.

It's good to hear the Pope say this, but it's not a new idea. My parish priest recently downgraded to a VW from an Audi, and I can't same I don't feel bad for him all the same! You do realise that an Audi is actually an upgrade from a VW? Unless he had a newer VW and went to a very old Audi?
