An Ohio bus driver says the Bible in his chest pocket saved his life after he was set upon by muggers. Ricky Wagoner had pulled his bus over to check on some electrical troubles when he was set upon by three armed robbers. He attempted to wrestle the gun away from one of them, but it went off during the altercation and struck him square in the chest. It wasn’t until after he’d sent the trio fleeing that he realized that, despite being fired upon in the chest at point blank range, he was still standing.
The police credit the pocket New Testament Wagoner had him for the save, saying it probably was at least instrumental in deflecting the bullets. “The two bullets were stopped by the New Testament book in his chest pocket,” Sgt. Michael Pauley told the local news. “There was obviously some kind of intervention involved in this incident, because he probably should not be here.” So, there you have it.
