North Korean ‘Earthquake’ Turns Out to be Underground Nuclear Test

After seismic monitoring agencies detected what appeared to be a 4.9 to 5.2 earthquake yesterday in North Korea, it was confirmed that Kim Jong-un’s regime had actually tested a nuclear device. North Korean state media say the weapons testing was just a further step in dealing with ”outrageous” U.S. hostility. President Obama was joined by officials around the world condemning the tests, and even China—a staunch North Korean ally—released a statement that said they are “strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed" to the test. This is the third test of North Korea’s nuclear weapons capability while under the rule of Kim Jong-un, following two recent long-range rocket launches.
