Noah Baumbach Is Directing an Animated Dreamworks Movie

Filmmaker Noah Baumbach, best known for his dark comedies including The Squid and the Whale, Greenberg and Frances Ha and his screenwriting collaborations with Wes Anderson on The Life Aquatic and The Fantastic Mr. Fox, has reportedly been secretly writing and directing an animated feature for Dreamworks. The movie is an adaptation of the children series Flawed Dogs by author Berkeley Breathed. Tapping a director with a tendency to employ such heavy themes and indie sensibilities into his films may seem like an odd choice for a kids movie, but it’s actually not Baumbach’s first foray into animated cinema. Back in 2012, he co-wrote the script for Madagascar 3
