Most Followers of Major Religions Are Concentrated in Just a Few Countries

According to a new report from Pew Research Center, most major religions are concentrated to only one or two countries. For example, 50 percent of Buddhists live in China, 94 percent of Hindus live in India and 81 percent of Jews live in the U.S. and Israel. Christianity is actually the most evenly distributed, with 50 percent of the world’s Christians living in 11 countries (the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, Russia, the Philippines, Nigeria, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Germany, Ethiopia and Italy).
