The idea of having an obedient little person on your smartphone soldiers on, and Microsoft is throwing their hat in the ring with Cortana. Now, Halo-nerds will remember Cortana as Master Chief’s assistant in the game franchise and, yes, that is who Cortana is named after. But instead of being a female hologram, Cortana will be an animated dot on your phone. Sorry, Her-heads—we’ve got a little ways to go before Scarlett Johansson-voiced girlfriends. Cortana will be pretty similar to Siri, really, although Microsoft is saying it (she?) will learn about you a little faster. Very comforting …
